Dr. Tania Burinskas, DPM

Dr. Tania Burinskas is a podiatrist specializing in conservative care treatment of all foot and ankle conditions, including sports injuries, pediatric conditions, geriatric care, diabetic limb salvage and wound care. Dr. Burinskas focuses much of her continuing education on wound care and limb salvage to ensure that she is practicing at the forefront of the latest advancements in the field.  She is an Associate in the American Professional Wound Care Association.  

A large percentage of Dr. Burinskas’ treatment is invested in preventative care. Foot wounds, whether from diabetes or peripheral vascular disease can lead to serious complications, including infections and hospitalizations. Regular screenings of these high risk patients is of utmost importance. Dr. Burinskas takes an active role in communicating with a team of specialists including vascular surgeons, endocrinologists, and primary care providers ensuring patients receive optimal care and minimize their risk of any future problems. 

Dr. Burinskas is sought out frequently for second opinions regarding wounds. Her proactive and collaborative approach allows her to successfully heal patients that present with an at-risk limb.

Community Involvement

Dr. Burinskas takes special interest in dance medicine, having been trained as a professional ballet dancer prior to her career in medicine. She trained at the Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts and prestigious intensives with the Bolshoi Academy. It takes one to know one, when it comes to a dancer’s feet! Dr. Burinskas treats dancers of all ages with a keen ability to recognize and diagnose dance injuries.  She collaborates with Johns Hopkins Performing Arts Therapists for any physical therapy referrals.

Dr. Burinskas is also active in animal rescue and performing mission trips abroad. Most recently, she coordinated and provided care to the underprivileged Cambodian migrant children in Thailand. 

In her spare time, Dr. Burinskas chases after her 3 young boys and their ponies.
